The 2020-2021 season

The Mystery of Irma Vep: a Penny Dreadful, by Charles Ludlam
October 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17 (2020) @ 7:30 pm .            October 4 & 11 @ 2 pm
This definitive spoof of Gothic melodramas, recently revived Off-Broadway to raves, is a quick change marathon in which two actors play all the roles. A sympathetic werewolf, a vampire and an Egyptian mummy make this a comedy that has everything.
“A true vaudeville tour de farce… It’s wonderful.” –Time
Admissions, by Joshua Harmon
March 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27 (2021) @ 7:30 pm       March 14 & 21 @ 2 pm
Sherri Rosen-Mason is head of the admissions department at a New England prep school, fighting to diversify the student body. With her husband, the school’s headmaster, they’ve largely succeeded in bringing a stodgy institution into the twenty-first century. But when their only son sets his sights on an Ivy League university, personal ambition collides with progressive values, with convulsive results. An honest look at privilege, power, and the perils of hypocrisy.
“Masterful. Expertly crafted. An absorbing drama and a prod to self-examination.” – Miami Herald
She Stoops to Conquer, by Oliver Goldsmith
April 30, May 1, 7, 8, 14, 15 (2021) @ 7:30 pm         May 2 & 9 @ 2 pm
First performed in 1773, this classic comedy of manners turns upside down its a polite society setting. The hilarity arises from the gap between the characters’ attempts to preserve standards of polite behavior and their true behavior. A complex series of mis- understandings and practical jokes tie the Hardcastle family in knots which the action proceeds to untangle.
